Pasco was formed from Hernando County in 1887. The county was named for a famous Florida Senator and statesman, Samuel Pasco. Boasting fertile soils and wide open spaces, West Pasco is bordered by citrus groves and cattle and horse ranches to the east and serene Gulf waters to the west.
Pasco County is situated along the Nature Coast of Florida overlooking the beautiful blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Pasco, Florida offers a great location to visit Walt Disney World, Bush Gardens, Sea World, and Universal Studios. It also lies just north of Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg.
Pasco County also is home to Pioneer Florida Museum, nature parks, and events such as Chasco Fiesta.
The area sports teams are the Devil Rays, Buccaneers, Lightning, Storm and Yankees.
Local news appears in the Tampa Tribune, La Gaceta, the Tampabay Times, Weekly Planet and the Pasco Times.
